Moving Day: the Pipevine Nursery Goes to the Gill Tract

This week is a move, not a normal potting evening. We are relocating the whole pipevine nursery to the Gill Tract Community Farm, where the plants will have proper room and a permanent home. Everything starts at 3062 California St in Oakland at 5:30, and from there we convoy over. There is a lot to shift: roughly 300 planters of rooted California pipevine (Aristolochia californica), plus three 27 gallon bins of cuttings that are striking roots and pushing out new leaves. If you can bring a car, a truck, or a van, that is the single most useful thing this week. If you cannot drive, come anyway: we need hands at both ends, loading here and unloading there. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting soil on. Friends and kids welcome. These are the vines rescued from Strawberry Creek on the UC Berkeley campus ahead of the excavation there, and this move is what gives them somewhere to grow on before they go out to people.
